HOW IT HAPPENED

Despite intense battles in both shooting circles, the first quarter remained scoreless thanks to outstanding defensive play from both teams.

The Aggies scored first in the 17th minute of the game from sophomore forward Katie Kim, her fifth of the season.

Maine quickly responded with their own goal from junior midfielder Olivia Geniti in the 20th minute.

Maine took the lead minutes later from a goal by graduate student midfielder Micaela Grajales in the 24th minute.

Freshman defender Jamie Dempsey found the first goal of her career and an equalizer for the Aggies in the 25th minute.

After halftime, Maine was awarded a penalty stroke for a goal-preventing foul and was successful which put them up in the game 3-2.

A yellow card was called on a Black Bear player, which put her out for five minutes. UC Davis was able to capitalize on the power play and score a goal by senior defender Zoe Mohrman in the 37th minute to equal the score.

Aggie Skylar Richards was also given a yellow card late in the third quarter, but Maine could not capitalize on the opportunity.

Maine received four back-to-back penalty corner's and were able to finish on the fourth attempt with a goal by junior forward Kate Richardson in the 47th minute.

UC Davis tried everything they could to score, even trading goalkeeper Emma Giesting for an additional field player in the 56th minute.
