After a three-day extravaganza in St. George, Utah, the Ags come away fourth out of eleven teams at the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invite.

"While this wasn't the mid-season meet we wanted, it gives us the information we need regarding what is on track and what needs more focus" states head coach
Matt Macedo.
"Despite this, there were quite a few lifetime and season bests in the water."

As day one in Utah kicked off, two stellar Aggies placed in them 200 yard IM event. Sophomore
Brynn Graham placed seventh in the A heat, with a time of 2:03.40 in the medley event. Senior
Sam Rhodes topped the charts in the B event with a 2:03.86, taking first by a twentieth of a second.

The quick-draw 50 yard freestyle event was one to remember, with over 100 athletes in the preliminaries being whittled down to 32 of the best swimmers. Our Aggies settled among the stars, with sophomore
Naomi Boegholm placing third overall with a 23.13, and senior
Katie McLain with a 23.30 in a sixth place finish.

As day two wrapped up, the Aggies fortified their stronghold at the fourth place position. In the 100 yard butterfly event,
Naomi Boegholm placed eleventh, and freshman
Sarah Hardin placed 16th.

Brynn Graham had another stellar event, placing third overall in the 400 yard IM with a 4:23.01, Rhodes not far behind in 6th with a 4:27.65 in the top heat.

Katie McLain qualified for the top heat in the 200 freestyle, swimming a speedy 1:53.54 to secure eight in the top spots.

Rounding out tenth and eleventh in the 100 backstroke are sophomores
Ella Palmer and
Anagha Kondury.

To finish off the second day, a relay team made up of
Elsie Luisetti,
Anna Boyer, Sophi Mackay, and
Katie McLain placed fifth out of twenty in the 800 yard freestyle relay with an impressive time of 7:33.51 to secure the spot.

Macedo credits the third session to being the best Aggie showing out of all three days. "We defended our 400 freestyle relay win against some really tough Big West opponents like UCSD and UCSB" he praises, the power squad locking in first place out of 27 other relay teams. With efforts from
Katie McLain,
Sophi MacKay,
Christy Douglas, and
Naomi Boegholm, the team posted a time of 3:21.50 for the win.

Sophomore
Ayanna Thompson placed among the top ten against 31 other swimmers in the 1650 freestyle, better known as the mile swim. She recorded 7th with a time of 17:28.73 in the long-haul race.

Boegholm and McLain had an impressive showing in the 100 yard freestyle, placing third and fourth respectively in the event.

Sam Rhodes and
Haley Hoefer hopped onto the success train, finding their way at fifth and eleventh in the 200 yard breaststroke.

Junior transfer student
Ema Klimauskas also registered a seventh place finish in the 200 butterfly with a speedy 2:04.09 in the race.

Keeping consistency throughout the three-day meet, the Aggies held fourth place the entire weekend on the women's side. Overall, the Aggies held their own and placed sixth amongst programs that traveled both their men's and women's teams.

"I'm proud of how the team supported each other" says Macedo, "and now it's time to switch gears as we look towards our winter training."
