WHAT HEAD COACH DAN CONNERS HAS TO SAYÂ
"I thought it was a battle throughout, as the match went on their passing got really good, we didn't have an answer for their middles so they were able to score a lot of points. They played great, and it wasn't our day today but we'll be ready to bounce back."
Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- The first set was tight all throughout, with a 5-0 scoring run pushing Davis to a 15-13 lead at the halfway point of the frame.
- Coming down the wire kills from Jade Light and Reese Diersbock locked in the set for the Aggies 25-22.
- Set number two flipped the script, with the Mustangs putting together three separate long scoring runs to triumph 25-19 and tie the match at one set apiece.
- The Aggies bounced back in the third, holding off a 6-1 rally from their opponent to hold a 17-15 lead late in the set.
- After a 4-0 run from UC Davis gave them a 21-15 lead, they exchanged points with Cal Poly to the end before icing the set 25-20 with a kill from Ally Chandler.
- Set four saw the Mustangs respond in earnest, knocking off a 4-0 run on their way to a 15-8 lead at the halfway mark of the frame. The Aggies looked to respond but it wasn't enough as Cal Poly would win the fourth 25-17 and send the match to a decisive fifth.
- After Cal Poly scored the first six of the fifth, Davis looked to pull back into it, exchanging points with their opponent. However, the comeback was too little too late as the Mustangs would go on to take the fifth 15-7 and win the match.
