Brookings, S.D. – Despite two gritty wins in the Flat and Horsemanship disciplines and two incredible individual performances from
Lauren Kolbe, the Ags give up the win to the Jackrabbits.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Sophomore
Lauren Kolbe earned the lone point for the Aggies in the Fences competition on Mambo. She rode an impressive 85, earning herself the highest score of the event and the MOP award for the event.
The Aggies take the win in the Flat event in a close 3-2 finish with the Jackrabbits. Senior
Marin Gilliland beat out her opponent by one point on Archie, and graduate Maggie Franke swept her competition with a 24-point difference on Leo. Kolbe had yet another incredible ride, scoring the highest in the event with a 79 and her second MOP title of the day.
The Western disciplines started off strong, the Aggies coming away with another 3-2 win in the Horsemanship showcase. Sophomore
Kylie Jacobson was drawn to be first in the event on Snaps, securing the first point for the Aggies. Seniors
Natasha Replogle and
Kendall Lance had an impressive display in the arena, sealing the deal for an Aggie win.
With the score at 8-7 and the Aggies down by one, Reining started off strong with a point by junior
Nicole Shroyer, out showing her opponent by 2.5 points. After a tie between freshman
Avery Adamson and her competitor, the race on Lash was re-done to squeeze out the winner. Adamson came on top by half a point, adding a second point to the Aggie totals. However, it wasn't enough to clinch and Davis win, and the Ags come just short of the win to the Jackrabbits 9-11.
UP NEXT: The Aggies have a short break, then will continue to face off versus Minnesota Crookston later today and tomorrow morning, festivities starting later this afternoon and pick up again tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM.
