The short story: Despite being down most of the game, UC Davis staged an incredible fourth-quarter comeback to defeat Ball State 3-1, scoring three goals by three different Aggies in a stunning rally. 

PITCH SIDE 

• Senior goalkeeper Sarah Lopez got her first start of the season 

• The Cardinal got the first goal of the game in the first quarter 

• Three different Aggies scored within five minutes during the fourth quarter

• Using a total team effort, 16 different Aggies appeared in today's game

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinal started the scoring in the first quarter with a goal by Graduate Student Michaela Graney in the sixth minute off of a penalty corner. 

• The Aggies were awarded a penalty stroke in the 18th minute but could not capitalize on the big opportunity. 

• UC Davis started to gain momentum in the third quarter being up a player due to a green card on Cardinal player Ellie Francois, but were unable to make something happen. 

• Things started to ramp up in the fourth quarter, the Aggies scored a goal but after review, it was removed from the board due to ball contact off an Aggie foot inside the circle. 

• UC Davis was awarded a penalty corner in the 49th minute and senior defender Zoe Mohrman was able to score to tie things up. 

• Four minutes later the Aggies were awarded another penalty corner, this time it was senior forward Liselotte Koop who was able to score for the Aggies making that her seventh goal of the season. 

• An error by the Cardinal defense allowed UC Davis senior forward Skylar Richards to make an incredible run and put another point on the board for the Aggies making the final score 3-1. 

• UC Davis had 17 shots in the entire game and 11 were on target, the most of the entire season.
