DAVIS, Calif. – Despite outstanding individual efforts in the meet, the Aggies fall to No. 9 Fresno State at their home arena in their first official NCEA meet of the season with a final score of 8-12.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Aggies captured the first win in the Fences competition, out showing the Bulldogs by one point with a tight 3-2 result. Senior
Jessie Rechs cinched the top score for the Aggie in Fences with a score of 85. Senior
Emma Jolly and freshman
Anna Donovan also added to the points.
Continuing with the trend of tight competition, the Aggies fell to the Bulldogs with an even closer 2-3 result, only seven points away from tying it up with the opposing team.
Despite this,
Emma Jolly and Courtage had a near-perfect performance and earned the MOP award for Flat with her outstanding score of 86. Graduate student Maggie Franke is also credited to the score, coming away with a score of 75 and a point in the nightcap.
Fresno State pulled the meet into their favor during the Horsemanship competition, winning 4-1 to the Aggies. Senior
Kendall Lance and Vinny earned that lone point for the Aggies, outscoring her competitor with a 72.5 to put the team on the scoreboard.
Pulling it together for the last event, Reining proved itself to be a close conflict. However, the win was out of reach for the Aggies, being outscored by one point with a 2-3 finale.
Junior
Nicole Shroyer had an incredible individual showing, collecting an MOP Award for her 75.5 performance on Belle. Sophomore
Mylea Trimble also added to the Aggie points with a solid 73.
UP NEXT: The Aggies hit the road and travel to Martin, Tennessee to face UT Martin on October 18th for another big NCEA matchup, and this is the Aggies' first time facing the Skyhawks after beating them in the ECAC Championships in the 2023-24 season.
