DAVIS, Calif. - Under a beautiful California sky on Sunday morning, Marya Welch Tennis Center played host to the biggest pro-am event in UC Davis tennis history, with 127 attendees and 34 sponsors making up a great day.
"I just want to say to all of you how important this is for our program," said newly appointed women's tennis head coach Sara Jackson. "Everything given today contributes to every success we have out here on the tennis courts so it's very much appreciated and we can't say thank you enough."
Each program individually raised $20,000 which will go directly into each program and will play a huge role in their success in the upcoming season.
"I want to say a thank you to all the people that traveled far and gave today," said men's tennis head coach Eric Steidlmayer. "Thank you so much to everyone who made it, the impact made today will be evident on the courts this year."
The event began with an introduction to the student-athletes on each team. It continued with many different stations such as a tennis clinic, doubles rounds, and Q & A's as prizes were up for grabs to the first place men's and women's participants, as well as raffle prizes.
"I think this next year is going to be the start of a new chapter," said Jackson. "And I go into it with a lot of excitement, thanks in part to the Aggie pride shown by the community today."
