UC Davis Softball Announces 2024 Schedule

DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis softball has announced its official game dates for the 2024 season, with broadcasting information to be announced shortly.

UC Davis will face three ranked opponents (#6 Stanford, #17 Auburn, #21 Wichita State) to headline its exciting 51-game slate.

The Aggies will not have to leave home very often this spring, hosting 32 games in the friendly confines of La Rue Field during their 2024 campaign. Davis' team will host a pair of tournaments during nonconference action, including the season-opening NorCal Kickoff starting on Feb. 9 and the Capital Classic starting on Feb. 29.

TICKET INFORMATION
Single-game tickets and Flexbooks are now available for purchase. Fans can head over to ucdavisaggies.com/tickets, email aggietickets@ucdavis.edu, or call (530) 752-2471 for more information.

EYES ON THE PRIZE
Led by Head Coach Erin Thorpe who enters her 10th season at the helm, UC Davis will return nearly its entire roster from the 2023 campaign and have its sights set on a Big West Conference Championship this spring.

The Aggies achieved 15 wins during conference play last season which is the program's most league victories since 2010.

THE AGGIES' STRONG CORE
The Aggies return all seven of their Big West honorees from a season ago, including Big West Player of the Year Anna Dethlefson who is expected to occupy the leadoff spot for the second straight year.

After earning First Team All-Big West recognition for the third straight season, Kenedi Brown is poised for a strong conclusion to her collegiate career. The hard-throwing right-hander posted an impressive 1.96 ERA in her 157.1 innings of work during the 2023 season. Brown has been dominant in the circle throughout her career as she broke the program record for strikeouts during her junior year.

Second Team selection Sarah Starks returns for her senior year after becoming the program's Division I leader in career RBI (93). Playing primarily first base, Starks was a mainstay in the middle of the Aggies' order, hitting .298 with 33 RBI, 13 doubles, and three home runs while finishing with a slugging percentage of .457.

Libbie McMahan and Bella Pahulu are two returning seniors who were tabbed All-Big West Honorable Mentions in 2023. McMahan started all 51 contests at shortstop as she comes back to lead the UC Davis infield while Pahulu made some noise in the middle of the order by hitting .310, playing primarily third base.

Gia Felice and Caroline Grimes were named to the Big West All-Freshman Team last spring as the Aggies got some significant contributions from their first-year players.

NORCAL KICKOFF
The 2024 begins at home when the Aggie host the NorCal Kickoff from Feb. 9-11. Middle Tennessee comes to Davis for the season opener on Feb. 9, the first of two contests on opening day. The Ags will take on St. Mary's that afternoon to wrap up the team's first day of action. On Saturday, local foes San Jose State will be the next opponent before a contest against Causeway rivals Sacramento State commences on the final day of the event, Feb. 11.

TRIP SOUTH OF THE BORDER
UC Davis will compete in one of the premier collegiate tournaments in mid-February when it heads south of the border for the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. The Aggies are slated to play three SEC opponents and #21 Wichita State over the course of the three days. UC Davis opens competition against #17 Auburn on Feb. 15.

The Ags then have a doubleheader the next day on Feb. 16 against Mississippi State at 8 a.m. PT and (RV) South Carolina immediately after. Action concludes on Feb. 17 with a tilt against nationally-ranked Wichita State.

ACTION IN THE CAPITAL
The Capital Classic will be held from Feb. 29 to March 3, with all games taking place at La Rue Field or the site of Causeway rivals Sacramento State, Shea Stadium. The event starts up with Thursday's 2:30 p.m. first pitch against the Hornets.

HOSTING THE CARDINAL
One of UC Davis' marquee matchups will take place on April 17 when PAC-12 members Stanford makes its way to La Rue for a doubleheader. In 2023, the sixth-ranked Cardinal were winners of 47 games and advanced to the Women's College World Series, falling just two wins short of the championship series.

THE CONFERENCE SLATE
After a thrilling nonconference schedule, the Aggies will look towards the all-important Big West slate that features home series against Cal State Fullerton (Mar. 15-16), Cal State Bakersfield (Mar. 29-30), CSUN (April 12-13), UC Santa Barbara (April 26-27), and Hawai'i (May 10-11).
