SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The UC Davis swim and dive team handled Cal Poly, 221-75, in their return to the pool after a nearly two month-long midseason break.
"I thought the team did a nice job this afternoon, especially following a long day of travel," UC Davis Head Swim Coach
Matt Macedo said after the meet. "We saw a good amount of in-season best times, which is exciting especially coming out of a hard training block and not racing since mid-November. I'm excited to see how we race tomorrow as these opportunities help prepare us for the conference meet."
UC Davis garnered 14 of the 16 available first place finishes and 21 different Aggies registered a top three placement in at least one event.
Naomi Boegholm led the way with two relay wins, an individual win in the 50 free, and a second place finish in the 100 fly.
Paige Dailey had two individual wins in the 100 and 200 yard breast, while
Nalanie Marinel Cortez paced the field in the 200 and 500 free and was a member of the Aggies' second place 400 free relay squad.
Mackenzie Young and
Priscilla Nguyen championed the Aggie effort on the diving boards, with both placing in the top three for the 1 and 3 meter dives. Young placed first in the 1-meter and second in the 3-meter. Nguyen slotted in third both times.
UP NEXT
The swim team continues down the coast to take on UC Santa Barbara and Cal Baptist University in a tri-meet. Originally scheduled to be held in Santa Barbara, a pool closure forced the competition to be held at Pepperdine University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
The divers will stick around another day for a 10:00 a.m. exhibition contest with Cal Poly.
