Aggies Gain Valuable Experience On Season-Opening Road Trip

AUBURN, Ala. — The UC Davis equestrian team's second straight reining event win wasn't enough, as the No. 2 Auburn Tigers proved a worthy opponent on Saturday afternoon in Alabama. The Tigers bested the Aggies 14-4.

Auburn took a commanding lead to open the meet after a strong showing in Flat, taking the event 4-1. Carly Sweeney was responsible for the lone Aggie point, registering a score of 84.

Kendal Scheiner earned her second point of the weekend in Reining to help lead the Aggies earn a point back with a 2-1 event result. Nicole Shroyer also came away with a point for the road team.

Leading by just two entering the second half of the meet, the Tigers put some distance between themselves and UC Davis with a dominant 5-0 Fences performance, which was followed by a 4-1 finish in Horsemanship.

Natasha Replogle earned her first point of the season with a score of 74.5 in Horsemanship.

The Aggies have a month break before heading back out on the road to take on South Dakota State and Minnesota Crookston in early November.
