DAVIS, Calif. – As the 2022-2023 academic year comes to a close, UC Davis Athletics is gearing up for our annual celebration in honor of the graduating class of student-athletes. Aggie Launch Day, a hallmark event organized by Aggie EVO, will take center stage, providing a platform to recognize the achievements of these exceptional individuals while here at Davis and celebrate the next step in their journeys into the world of work.
Scheduled to kick off on Thursday, June 15th at 9 a.m., Aggie Launch Day will be hosted online at UCDavisAggies.com. The event will feature a display of senior class highlights in videos, graphics, and compelling feature stories.
"When we recruit student-athletes to UC Davis we make a holistic commitment beyond a diploma," states Director of Athletics Rocko DeLuca. "We have programs and services in place so Aggies can achieve their goals on their field and more importantly, launch right into a meaningful career fully taking advantage of their degree and experience."
Aggie EVO, a program established five years ago, is committed to equipping student-athletes with the necessary tools to thrive in the world beyond their time at UC Davis and competing in intercollegiate athletics.
"Experiential learning which includes making regional on-site visits to companies, hearing from successful alumni formerly in their shoes, engaging in meaningful conversations about developing as a professional, it all adds up to set UC Davis student-athletes apart," DeLuca said.
Through a multifaceted approach, the Aggie EVO System focuses on enhancing career paths for student-athletes, preparing them for success in various professional fields. The program offers a range of opportunities, including networking events, internships, mentorships, and experiential learning initiatives, all designed to bolster their professional skills and provide real-world experience.
From the moment student-athletes set foot on the UC Davis campus, Aggie EVO opens doors to unique relationships and immersive experiences, allowing them to interact with employers and professionals from diverse fields. These encounters often introduce students to new and exciting possibilities that they may not have previously considered.
These invaluable opportunities empower student-athletes to put their best foot forward as they embark on their future careers.
