Davis, Calif. — The UC Davis Women's Soccer Team will take the first steps of their 2023 journey in June, as the team will embark on the program's first ever foreign tour with a trip to Costa Rica.
Slated to depart today (June 16), the Aggies will explore Costa Rica for eight days before returning back home.
"I'm so excited to bring our team to such a beautiful country and to not only celebrate our 2022 season, but to kickstart our 2023 fall," UC Davis Head Coach Tracy Hamm said. "We've been looking forward to this trip for over a year now."
Upon arrival, the Aggies will have a jam-packed agenda, highlighted by a match against the Costa Rican National Team Saturday morning.
Hamm added, "Getting the opportunity to play the Costa Rican national team, weeks before they leave for the World Cup, will be an incredible experience."
Following their morning game, the Aggies will unwind with a visit to the Heredia Zoo and spend the afternoon at the Wildlife Rescue Center.
In addition to playing the Costa Rican National Team, the Aggies schedule will also include two more exhibition games against a pair of Costa Rica Primera Division teams; one against Dimas Escazu on June 19, and another against Club Sport Herediano on June 22.
In between training sessions and the scheduled games, the Aggies itinerary has mapped out plenty of time for tours, day trips, and sight-seeing to fully immerse in the culture, and bond together as a team.
Some of these trips and experiences include the aforementioned visit to the Heredia Zoo, a San Jose City tour, river rafting, a tour at La Paz Waterfall Gardens, and the leading of a clinic with Academia de Futbol Cubujuqui.
After putting together one of the most impressive seasons in program history, this trip is yet another building block and showcases the momentum of success coach Hamm has injected into a program that has their sights set on a Big West Championship.
"This is the program's first ever foreign tour - it's another milestone for this team and showcases what we are building here at UC Davis."
