PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. — UC Davis took down the Army Black Knights, 4-1, in the opening round of the Universal Tennis NIT Championships. The Aggies advance to play Vanderbilt University in the semifinals on Friday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After splitting doubles on courts 2 and 3 to open the match, Army's AJ Woodman and Samuel Eden managed a 7-6 (7-1) win to take court 1 and the first point of the match.

UC Davis led on courts 1 and 3 when rain forced the match into a delay. Constantinos Djakouris led 6-1, while Sam De Vries led 6-3. Ryan Torres trailed 6-3, 0-1 on court 2.

After a significant break in action, the teams picked back up on indoor courts where Djakouris finished his opponent in three sets. De Vries gave the Aggies a second point with a 6-1 second set win, and Torres came from behind to put UC Davis one point away from advancing.

Andras Necz secured the win for the Aggies with a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win. 

UP NEXT
The Aggies face off against Vanderbilt at a time to be determined in the NIT Championship Semifinals. The winner of Friday's match advances to the Championship match on Saturday morning.
