La Jolla, Calif. — Despite picking up 10 hits in the ballgame and out-hitting the Tritons, UC Davis was unable to come out on top, as the Aggies lost to the Tritons 5-4 Thursday.
Sophomore Bryan Green delivered a quality start for the Aggies, starting the ballgame and throwing seven innings, giving up four runs, two earned, on seven hits, with three walks and two strikeouts. Throwing the most pitches of the season, Green recorded his longest start of the year and left tonight during a tie-ball game. After Green, Nate Freeman entered in relief and went a 1-2-3, eighth inning before coming back out for the ninth. Freeman only allowed one hit in his appearance but gets credited with the loss.
Offensively, the Aggies were led by Nick Iverson and Joey Wright who each went 2-for-4. Junior Damian Stone also contributed for UC Davis, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Aggies were trailing 3-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. UC Davis got an RBI single from Stone, scoring Wright from second base.
The Aggies kept the Tritons off the board before taking the lead in the fifth. which brought the score to 4-3 in favor of the Aggies. The Aggies were unable to hold the lead, as UCSD scored two times over the remaining four innings to grab the 5-4 walk-off win.
