IRVINE, Calif. – UC Davis juniors
Kenedi Brown and
Libbie McMahan garnered Big West Conference weekly accolades, the league office announced on Monday. Brown was named the Pitcher of the Week, while McMahan nabbed Field Player of the Week honors.
Brown earns the conference weekly award for the eighth time in her career and the second this season. For McMahan, this marks the first time the shortstop has garnered Big West recognition.
Brown was spectacular in the series sweep at CSU Bakersfield. The righthander sported an unblemished 0.00 ERA in eight innings and held the Roadrunners to a paltry .083 batting average. The junior struck out 12 and only walked one. In the series finale, the Elk Grove native struck out nine in the shutout victory.
McMahan batted .714 (5-for-7) in the series, adding a grand slam and seven RBI. The junior slugged 1.143 and boasted a .625 on-base-percentage. The Santa Clarita native had five RBI and two runs scored in the series finale and collected three hits in three at-bats, scored two runs, and drove in a run in the backend of the doubleheader on Saturday.
UC Davis will head to Saint Mary's for a doubleheader on Tuesday and then welcome UC Riverside for the Big West series at La Rue Field, beginning on Friday, April 7.
