DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis softball team fell victim to a seventh-inning comeback from UC San Diego to eventually fall in the series finale, 4-3, in eight innings on Sunday. The series loss was the first since Long Beach State as the Aggies had strung three straight. After the day, the Ags move to 25-15 overall and 11-7 in conference play.

UCSD hitters over seven innings of work, but scattered 10 hits and allowed three runs, two earned in the no-decision effort.

Caroline Grimes (4-1) was tagged with her first loss of her collegiate career after surrendering a leadoff walk.

The Aggies got things going in the third inning. UC Davis scored twice on a two-run double off the bat of Polson.
The Aggies then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the fifth inning after the Tritons cut it to 2-1. UC Davis scored once again on an RBI single off the bat of Polson, which brought the score to 3-1.
The Aggies were unable to secure the win as the Tritons rallied for two runs, taking advantage of some UCD miscues to extend the game. In the eight inning, UCSD drove in the eventual winning run on a single to left off the bat of Zoe Richards.
UC Davis will return to the diamond as the Aggies hit the road for a three-game series at UC Santa Barbara. The two teams will first meet in a doubleheader on Friday, April 28.
