Bakersfield, Calif. — The UC Davis Aggies secured a 5-4 nail-biting victory over the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners Friday.
Junior Nate Freeman (1-4) got the win out of the bullpen for UC Davis (8-13, 2-5). The right-hander went 2.2 shutout innings, giving up five hits. Junior Kaden Hogan also pitched well, going two shutout innings while allowing just one hit. To close the door, the Aggies turned to the flame-thrower out of Winters, Danny Carrion who sealed the deal for UC Davis recording a strikeout to end the game.
At the plate, the Aggies were paced by junior Damian Stone, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a no doubter of a home run, a walk and two RBI.

Alex Gouveia continues to shine, posting yet another standout performance as well, going 3-for-5 with an RBI. Freshman
Joey Wright also chipped in for UC Davis, putting together three hits in four trips to the plate while adding a double. With the bats alive for 12 hits as a team,
Nick Iverson also added a 2-4 performance and was apart of the infield unit that recorded three-quarters of the team's hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Aggies got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning off a
James Williams III chopper. Sophomore
Mark Wolbert came across to score the lone run of the inning for UC Davis and get them on the board.
The Aggies lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the fifth trailing 4-1. UC Davis picked up two runs, including one on a solo homer off the bat of Stone, which brought the score to 4-3 in favor of the Roadrunners.
UC Davis kept the Roadrunners off the scoreboard before rallying to grab a 5-4 lead in the sixth. Stone's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run output in the frame for the Aggies. The score remained 5-4 for the rest of the game, as UC Davis held on for the win.
