Aggies Down UT Martin to Win Program’s First ECAC Championship

BROOKINGS, S. Dak. - UC Davis will return home from South Dakota with the ECAC Championship title for the first time in program history after taking down top seeded UT Martin, 10-8 on Saturday.

The dream weekend was highlighted by six total team MOPs, with the Aggies earning three in each matchup.

Davis started out the day with strong rides in Fences by Sierra Gundersen and MOP Carly Sweeney, but gave up three points to the higher seeded Skyhawks.

The Aggies took command of the contest in Horsemanship, where Natasha Replogle, Kendall Lance, Gracie Howell and MOP Maddie Gregory all earned points.

UC Davis maintained their two point advantage the rest of the way, as teams were even 2-2 in both Flat and Reining.

Margaret Franke and Nicole Beales grabbed two points for Davis in Flat, while Kendal Scheiner and MOP Lauren Langbaum were awarded two in Reining.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Aggies will await a first ever invitation to the NCEA Equestrian National Championship in Ocala, Florida. The tournament, which is set to begin on April 13, will include only the top eight teams in the nation.
