GAME 1 | UC Davis 6, CSUN 5
Davis, Calif. — Senior James Williams collected four RBIs to help lead the UC Davis Aggies past the CSUN Matadors 6-5 in the first part of Saturday's doubleheader.
Sophomore Bryan Green (4-1) started on the mound in his usual Saturday role and picked up the win for UC Davis. The lefty went five innings, gave up five runs, on six hits, allowing two walks and striking out three. Even with Green pitching up to his very high standards, he still delivered five innings of quality pitching to keep the game under control. Green's four wins are tied for first in the Big West, while he also ranks top in the conference in batters strucken out looking, and sixth in opposing batting average.
Backing up Green was Kaden Hogan who threw two scoreless innings and held down the fort for UC Davis. Also recording two strikeouts in his appearance, Hogan's day was highlighted by his ability to navigate out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the sixth.
Freshman Braydon Wooldridge also made an impact on the mound for the Aggies, throwing two scoreless and hitless innings while allowing just two walks and collecting three strikeouts. The freshman showed how much of a bulldog he is on the mound, picking up a huge save in just his second collegiate pitching appearance.
Williams went 2-for-5 with a double in addition to his four RBIs for the Aggies. Junior Jack Gallagher compiled a standout effort as well, going 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Freshman Joey Wright also chipped in for UC Davis, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a double and a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Aggies were trailing 3-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Williams drove in two runs for UC Davis with a single, that scored junior Damian Stone and Wright.
The Matadors expanded their lead to 4-2 before the Aggies offense got back to work, taking the lead in the fourth. The UC Davis offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of Williams and a two-run home run from Gallagher, which brought the Aggies lead to 6-4. CSUN put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but UC Davis still held on for the 6-5 win.

UC Davis saw all nine starters reach base safely, but the Aggies fell 9-3 in the second leg of Saturday's doubleheader.
Sophomore Rowen Barnes (1-2) got the ball to start for the Aggies and took the loss after throwing just two-thirds of an inning and allowing four runs. Sophomore Carter Delaney was a bright spot for the Aggies, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 5.1 shutout innings, allowing two hits, with no walks and six strikeouts.
Gallagher led the way offensively for the Aggies, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a walk. Nick Iverson also provided some offense for UC Davis after going 1-for-3 with a hustle-double. Freshman Leighton Helfrick, produced quality at-bats as well, going 1-for-2 with an RBI and sac bunt in the third.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Aggies were trailing 4-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. UC Davis managed to push across two runs in the inning.
The Aggies deficit expanded to 7-2 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the seventh inning. Iverson came across to score the lone run of the inning for UC Davis, which tightened the Matadors lead to 7-3. The Aggies were unable to get any closer, as CSUN added two runs to their tally on the way to a 9-3 final.
