BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The UC Davis women's golf team narrowly missed the tournament victory at The Valley Invitational on Tuesday at the Bakersfield Country Club. The Aggies finished with a 34-over 898, just one stroke off champion San Francisco (33-over 897).
The runner-up finish is the best tournament showing by the Aggies since winning the Anuenue Spring Break Invitational in 2021.
Sophomore
Abby Leighton finished tied for second with a 4-over 220. Leighton fired a final round 72 on the strength of four birdies on the back nine, including the last three holes.
Sophomore
Elle Rastvortseva closely followed in fifth place with a 5-over 221. Rastvortseva carded a final round 5-over 77.
Newcomer
Lauren Calderon tied for 11
th with an 8-over 224. Sophomore
Naomi Danner tied for 43
rd overall with a 20-over 236, while classmate
Marina Mata tied for 66
th with a 29-over 245. Sophomore
Skyler May closed out the Ags in 68
th, carding a 30-over 246.
UC Davis will head to Rancho Santa Fe to compete in the Lamkin Invitational hosted by San Diego State.
