SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The UC Davis men's water polo team suffered their second straight conference defeat with a 11-10 loss at UC San Diego on Saturday afternoon in their regular season finale.
After falling behind 3-1 at the end of the first quarter, the Aggies battled back to take a 6-5 lead into the half.
Holden Neach led the way for the Aggies in the first 16 minutes, logging two goals and two assists.
UC Davis built out a two goal lead in the third quarter before a last minute goal brought the Tritons within one going into the final period.
Logan Anderson's third goal of the game gave UC Davis a 10-8, but it proved not enough, as the Aggies suffered a four minute dry spell that saw the Tritons rapidly reverse their fortunes.
The home side put in two quick goals before drawing an exclusion and putting in the go ahead goal on the ensuing powerplay with just 28 seconds to go.
The Aggies' final effort of the game glanced off the post.
The loss means the Aggies will finish fourth in the Big West conference standings and will play Long Beach State in the Big West Championships quarterfinals on Nov. 17.
