Kayla Wolfe Named NCEA Standout Student-Athlete of the Month

DAVIS, Calif. — Aggie rider Kayla Wolfe has been named Standout Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of October, the National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced Friday.

Each month, the NCEA recognizes student-athletes not only for their accomplishments in the ring, but also their outstanding achievements outside in areas that include academics, philanthropy and the embodiment of an ideal teammate.

A passionate and engaged leader, Wolfe is an ambassador for several different programs on the UC Davis campus. The jumping seat rider leads the equestrian team's community service committee, organizing a variety of philanthropic opportunities for teammates throughout the season. She also serves a key role in the execution of the team's Festival of Trees fundraiser.

Her leadership efforts extend well beyond the equestrian team, as she is this year's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee president and represents all UC Davis student-athletes in conversations with UC Davis athletics management.

"Kayla is an excellent representative, promoting sportsmanship, gratitude, and a clear passion for the equine industry. As a student athlete, Kayla puts 100 percent into everything she does," UC Davis equestrian head coach Jill Humphrey said. "When it comes to team culture and camaraderie, Kayla is always there, with a smile, to offer a helping hand, to support her teammates, and to share her Aggie Pride."
