Aggies Handle Jackrabbits for First Conference Win, 14-4

BROOKINGS, S.D. — The UC Davis equestrian team handled South Dakota State in their first Eastern Athletic Conference meet of the season, 14-4, at the DeHaan Equestrian Center in Brookings, S.D.

The Aggies set the tone for the meet with a dominant Flat performance, sweeping the event 5-0, before adding three more points in Reining to take a 8-1 lead into the break.

UC Davis (1-2, 1-0) extended its lead by one in Fences and finished the day with a 3-1 result in Horsemanship.

Sierra Gundersen (86), Carly Sweeney (85) and Emma Jolly (83) all earned points for the Aggies in Fences. Gundersen and Sweeney each added another point in Flat, along with Lauren Kolbe (78), Margaret Franke (76) and Marin Gilliland (69).

Six different Aggies contributed a point in the western arena, with Natasha Replogle (78.5), Marcella Bee (75.5) and Maddie Gregory (74.5) each adding to the point total in Horsemanship. Macey Newkirk (74.5), Amber Nusser (71) and Nicole Shroyer (69) all bested their opponents in Reining.

The Aggies have a split-day meet with Minnesota Crookston on Nov. 3 and 4, then return home to host No. 3 SMU on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 8:00 a.m.
