DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis football team (3-3, 1-2) head to Weber State (3-3, 1-2) on Saturday, Oct. 14. Kickoff from Stewart Stadium is scheduled for 5 p.m. PT.
The Aggies are coming off a tough 31-23 loss against No. 13 Montana. Miles Hastings threw for 359 yards and two scores, while nine different players caught a pass in the contest. Rex Connors registered 17 total tackles and Teddye Buchanan added two sacks.
This will be the 11th meeting between the two programs as Weber State holds a 7-3 all-time advantage. The two teams met last season in Davis as the Wildcats won the defensive battle, 17-12. In the last game played in Ogden in 2021, the Aggies used a Trent Tompkins touchdown with 27-seconds remaining to take down No. 14 Weber State, 17-14.
The Aggies are receiving votes in both polls. The Wildcats are ranked 22nd in the nation in this week's Stats Perform poll and 23rd in the AFCA Coaches poll. The Big Sky Conference has six teams nationally ranked in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll, and has three teams in the top four.
Weber State dropped its last home game, falling 27-10 to Northern Arizona last Saturday night. The Wildcats scored the first touchdown of the game but failed to score a touchdown again and gave up 20 points to the Lumberjacks in the second quarter.
The contest will feature two of the most prolific tacklers in the conference as Weber State's Winston Reid and the Aggies' Rex Connors rank 1-2 in tackles per game. Reid leads the league with 11.7 tackles per contest and Connors closely follows at 10.6.
Connors posted his second career 17-tackle game of his collegiate career as he registered that mark last weekend against Montana. The Utah native totaled 17 last season on the road at eventual national champion South Dakota State.
Despite missing two games, Lan Larison still leads the league in rushing yards per game at 119.8 per contest and is second in the conference with 479 yards on the ground. The same goes for all-purpose yards as he leads the league at 151.3 yards per game. His 605 yards rank fifth in the Big Sky.
Receiver C.J. Hutton has caught at least one pass in 29-straight games. The Folsom product rushed for his third touchdown of the season and caught four passes for 54 yards against Montana. On the season, Hutton has 219 receiving yards and a score on 21 catches.
The Aggies will enjoy a bye week and then return to action on the road at NAU on Oct. 28.
