DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis football team (3-3, 1-2) rallied late but eventually fell to Montana (5-1, 2-1) on Saturday evening at UC Davis Health Stadium.
Miles Hastings threw for 359 yards, tossing two touchdowns without turning the ball over.
Jordan Fisher accumulating 57 yards over the course of the game as the true freshman made his first start of his collegiate career.
Chaz Davis pulled in five catches for 74 yards and one score.
Josh Gale recorded four receptions for 71 yards. The Aggies also added 64 yards receiving from
Lance Babb II in the game.
Rex Connors led the Aggies defensively with his 17 tackles, 10 of them solo, and 1.5 TFL.
Kavir Bains added one recovered fumble and
Semaj Verner tacked on 1.0 TFL and one recovered fumble.
Teddye Buchanan compiled two sacks.
Montana jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but UC Davis responded to tie the game at 7-7 with 1:53 remaining in the first quarter.
C.J. Hutton got things going for the Aggies when he took a handoff four yards to even the score at seven.
The Aggies proceeded to break the 7-7 tie with a one-yard touchdown reception from
Chaz Davis, making the score 13-7.
Montana then grabbed a 14-13 lead, but UC Davis got on the scoreboard again at the 2:15 mark in the second quarter with a 14-yard touchdown reception from
Samuel Gbatu, Jr. to jump back ahead 20-14.Montana fought back to take a 31-20 lead, but the Aggies scored again to narrow the gap and make it a 31-23 game on a 42-yard field goal by
Hunter Ridley.
The Aggies will hit the road and face Weber State on Saturday, Oct. 14, at Ogden, Utah.
