How It Happened
Norris immediately made her presence felt with a layup on UC Davis' first possession. Turner quickly added five points to begin her explosive night and the Aggies stepped up defensively, holding the hosts scoreless for the first three minutes of the contest. This allowed UC Davis to open up an 11-2 lead, forcing a Cal Poly timeout.
The momentum would shift in the second quarter as the Aggies were the next team to endure a scoring drought, one that lasted over six minutes to welcome the Mustangs back into the game. However, UC Davis would turn to its leading scorer, Turner, who buried a shot from the perimeter to close the half on a 7-0 run, giving the Aggies a 28-22 advantage at the break.
Turner continued to impress on her special night by nailing two threes in the third period to provide a massive spark. Norris showed strength inside by completing a three-point play after drawing some contact on a tough layup, and Epps would follow by scoring four straight points to widen the gap. UC Davis out-scored Cal Poly 25-14 in the third quarter to take a 53-36 lead into the final 10 minutes.
The Aggies extended the lead to as many as 29 points in the fourth quarter. With just under four minutes left to play,
Campbell Gray found Turner with a sweet pass off a back-door cut and she promptly provided the finish to score her 1,000
