Davis, Calif. - Genevieve Fontes and
Lexi Trucco both scored and the Aggies overcame rising temperatures to fight to a 2-2 draw against Boise State at Aggie Soccer Field on Thursday.
Both Fontes and Trucco's goals came in the second half with Fontes netting a long score from the far corner of the the box in the 70th minute and Trucco sending a high arcing shot from outside the penalty box that bounced just in front and over the Boise State keeper's leap into the net in the 88th minute to get the draw.
It was Fontes' first goal of the season and the second of her career while Trucco's goal was the first of her three-season career.
Thursday's game was reschedule from 5 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. due to an extended heatwave in California and temperatures reached 100 degrees by the time the Aggies left the pitch at 11:30.
Thursday's result was the second straight game UC Davis has scored multiple goals and the Aggies have not lost since the second week of the season on Aug. 28.
While the Aggies have one more non-conference game on Sept. 18 at Arizona, they'll open Big West play on Sept. 15 at Hawai'i with their next date at Aggie Soccer Field coming on Sept. 22.
