BEAT THE HEAT
For the second straight week, record-breaking temperatures in the Central Valley forced the adjustment of game times for UC Davis. Thursday's double-header with UC Davis' men's soccer team was changed from a 5 p.m. start to a 9:30 a.m.
MORE HISTORY FOR THE RECORD BOOK
After getting their first win over a ranked opponent in program history earlier this season against then-No. 5 Santa Clara, UC Davis got it's first win against a Pac-12 opponent on Sept. 4 vs. Oregon State.
DOUBLE HEADER HISTORY
While double-headers between the Aggie men and women have become less common in recent years, they were a near-yearly occurrence when the teams were both Division II and playing the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
• There have been 80 double-headers going back to 1990.
• Women's soccer is 52-22-6.
• Men's soccer is 53-21-6.
• The last time the teams played at Aggie Soccer Field on the same day was Aug. 31, 2018 when the women beat New Mexico 1-0 and the men beat San Jose State 3-2.
• From 2018 to 2008, the teams played at least one double-header in nine out of those 11 seasons.
• Double-headers were played from 1990-93 and 1995-2003 before a four season break that coincided with UC Davis transitioning to Division 1.
BIG WEST RANKS
UC Davis continues to rank highly across numerous Big West categories heading into the third week of the season. The Aggies rank second as a team in shots,
second in shots on goal, and fourth in scoring average.
Caeley Goldstein is second in the conference in save percentage at .844, which currently ranks as the third-best individual season in program history if she keeps up that pace. Goldstein is also one of just three other Big West keepers to most multiple shutouts this season and her goals against average is ranked third, with that .833 number also ranking third all-time at UC Davis.
