Cason Goodman picked up his first career assist but UC Davis fell 3-1 to Saint Mary's on Sunday afternoon.
The Aggies fell to 0-3 as the second week of the season comes to a close.
UC Davis took seven corners to the Gaels' one, including a 4-0 advantage for the Aggies in the first half. Though neither team was able to create a shot on frame in the first half, both teams ticked up in the second.
Santa Clara went ahead in the 65th minute and were helped by an own goal in the 69th to lead 2-0. Hoard's score came in the 78th minute, drawing UC Davis within 2-1 with a little under 12 minutes to go.
The Aggies are less than halfway through their non-conference slate and enter a stretch of three straight home games next week. UC Davis' home opener will come on Sept. 8 against San Diego with another home date next week against LMU on Sept. 11.
