Davis, Calif. - A shorthanded UC Davis (3-4-3, 0-1-1) squad showed no sign of it on Thursday afternoon, battling to a 2-2 draw against defending Big West champion UC Irvine at Aggie Soccer Field.       

Lexi Trucco scored in the 15th minute with an assist from Emma Vane on a long strike from outside the box, Trucco's second goal this season from distance after her goal against Boise State also came from well outside the penalty box. 

After UC Irvine tied it at one in the 41st minute on a scrum in front of the goal, Lindsey Porter and Vane set up a streaking Sarah Canavan for the go-ahead goal in the 53rd minute. 

The Anteaters went on to knot the score in the 61st minute. 

Down two starters against the defending Big West regular season co-champion and tournament champion Anteaters, the Aggies very nearly made it 3-1 at one point when Canavan got loose again and had a shot go high in the 60th minute. 

UC Davis will host CSUN at Aggie Soccer Field on Sunday before playing three straight on the road to start October.
