Aggies conclude road trip with loss at Quinnipiac, Return home to face Stanford

Hamden, CT — UC Davis closed out their first road trip of the year Monday morning, losing to Quinnipiac in a non-conference match by a score of 2-3.

Quinnipiac's Micaela Grajales kicked off the games scoring in the second quarter when she was able to covert a penalty stroke and put the Bobcats up 1-0. Just a few moments later though, the Aggies were able to answer right back after senior Grace Austin scored off a penalty corner which was assisted by both Milou Korthouwer and Maddie Kellner

In this 2-3 match, Sarah Lopez found herself being busy all day. She was able to record 12 saves after facing 25 shots and stave off many Bobcat corner attempts. On the day, the Bobcats had 15 corners and Lopez did her best to keep UC Davis within striking distance.

Shannon Lackey was another bright spot for the Ags today as she was able to find the back of the net with a little over two minutes left in regulation off a Korthouwer and Lizzy Tedrow assist. That makes it two straight games with a goal for Lackey as she will look to carry that streak into the next game.

Tedrow's assist gives her three straight games for the Aggies recording a point displaying her ability to contribute any time she gets around the ball. Korthouwer's two assists today put her tied for the most on the team with Tedrow and Kellner who now all have three on the year.

The late goal from Lackey gave the Aggies some hope along with a late decision to pull the Goalkeeper to try and score one more to tie the game up, but in the end, time expired.

UC Davis will return home to Aggie Field Hockey Facility and America East action Sunday, Sept. 25, when they face Stanford for Pride Game. First pushback is scheduled for 11 AM PDT.
