Davis, Calif. – In the Aggies' first five-set match of the season, the UC Davis women's volleyball team put up a great battle, but ultimately fell to Saint Mary's College, 3-2, on Tuesday at the University Credit Union Center in Davis, Calif.
The Aggies were handed their first home loss of the season, dropping to 5-4 overall. The Gaels improved to 3-4 overall.

Lana Radakovic recorded double-digit kills in the match, however the Gaels' defense and late-game heroics proved to give the visitors the edge. Ough also recorded five total blocks, tying her for third all-time on the Aggies all-time total blocks list.
After a back-and-forth opening set in which the Aggies won resoundingly 25-18, the Gaels responded with a set victory 25-17. Radakovic finished the first set with three of her ten impressive kills to give the Aggies the opening set win.
In a pivotal third frame, the Aggies hit .289 while collecting a set-high 14 kills en route to a 25-21 set victory. Once again, Saint Mary's responded with a narrow 25-23 set win, forcing a fifth set for the first time of the season for UC Davis.
The Gaels utilized a 6-0 run during the fifth set to jump ahead 8-3. Saint Mary's momentum continued as they closed out the set with some tight defense to secure the fifth and final set for the match victory.
UC Davis hit .152 for the match while Saint Mary's hit .178.
The Aggies go on the road for their final non-conference match of the season against California on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 2 pm PT.
