Davis, Calif. - UC Davis dropped a close battle with Pacific 1-0 on Thursday night at Aggie Soccer Field in the Aggies' home opener.
The loss moves the Aggies to 2-1 on the season.
Devyn Simmons came off the bench to put two shots on goal and
Taylor Dever and
Sarah Canavan each had one on frame as UC Davis were forced to battle the Tigers in the midfield for long stretches.
Caeley Goldstein had six saves, three in a scoreless first half and set an early tone with saves in the 16th and 20th minutes. The Tigers lone score came off a crowded scrum near the center of the box following a Pacific corner kick from the near side.
The Aggies remain at home this week and remain in the area for the remainder of their non-conference schedule. UC Davis will host San Francisco at Aggie Soccer Field on Sunday, then head across the causeway to Sacramento State on Sept. 1. UC Davis' non-conference slate concludes with home matches on Sept. 4 and Sept. 8.
