Stanford, Calif. - UC Davis fought back late but fell 6-16 to No. 11 Stanford on Tuesday night in Stanford.
The Aggies got three back in the top of the fifth on a three-run home run by
James Williams III that scored
Raul Sandoval and
J.D. Mico.
UC Davis loaded the bases twice, once in the seventh and again in the eighth with Mico's opposite field single to right driving in
Jake Brandel. Williams III went on to drive in
Kyler Arenado on a ground ball and
Raul Sandoval scored on a wild pitch but the Aggies would get no closer than the final margin.
The Aggies' nine walks tied a season-high set on Mar. 8 against Pacific. The top of the order drew drew eight of those with Wolbert taking three passes, Mico and Williams two apiece and
Nick Leehey one.
Tuesday's game marked the start of a four-game swing away from Dobbins Field for UC Davis, who will travel to CSUN for a three-game series Friday-Sunday.
