DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis football team was named to the 2022 FCS Top-25, Hero Sports Announced. The Aggies check in at No. 25 in the poll and as the highly anticipated season approaches, the UC Davis Athletics Department announced the Football Theme Days for the five-game home slate.
The Aggies open the home schedule at UC Davis Health Stadium against San Diego on Sept. 17. The game against the Toreros will mark Welcome Back Week and Orientation. UC Davis took down San Diego in Week 2 last season on the road, 53-7.
The next weekend, the Ags have a rematch against Weber State, who they downed, 17-14, when the Wildcats entered Week 3 of the 2021 season ranked No. 14 in the country. The festivities on Sept. 24 will include Band Day, a grand opening celebration of the new Edwards Family Athletics Center and Faculty/Staff Day.
Northern Arizona will mark Homecoming on the UC Davis campus as the celebration will include Hall of Fame and Parent & Family Weekend. The Aggies took down the Lumberjacks in Flagstaff, Ariz., last season, 40-24.
UC Davis caps off October at home against rival Cal Poly in the Battle of the Golden Horseshoe. Also featured will be Gunrock's Gallop, which is an annual 5k in support of the ASUCD Pantry. Other game attractions include a Halloween Bash, Ag Day, and the Cheer/Dance teams Aggiette Clinic for kids 13 and younger. The Aggies take on the Mustangs, who they defeated, 24-13, last season, on the 29
th, two days before Halloween.
The home slate comes to an end on Nov. 5 against Idaho State. The Ags will recognize their seniors, host a salute to those that served in the armed forces and then showcase the Doxie Derby, where the Picnic Day tradition comes to halftime with the local dachshund race at halftime.
