Davis, Calif. – UC Davis is adding more Division I guard experience with Ty Johnson joining UC Davis Head Coach

Johnson is a 6-3 transfer from Loyola Chicago and will be a sophomore academically in 2022-23.
He appeared in 13 games last season for Loyola Chicago, often being used as a defensive specialist late in the season. Loyola was 11-2 in games Johnson played in and 3-0 when he started.
When afforded the time, Johnson was productive with his season-high 14 minutes against Roosevelt on Dec. 7, 2021 leading to seven points, three rebounds a steal.
Johnson was one of the top high school players in Illinois during his time at DePaul College Prep.
He averaged 20.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists to lead DePaul to a 24-5 record in 2019-20 as a junior. He was second team all-city, all-state honorable mention, was named to the Hinsdale Central All-Tournament Team and was First Team All-Chicago Catholic League that season.
As a senior in 2020-21, Johnson led DePaul to a win at the Chipotle Clash of Champions tournament. He averaged 20.1 points on 51 percent shooting his senior season with 4.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.9 steals per game that season while again collecting all-city, all-state, and all-are recognition.
