San Francisco, Calif. - UC Davis (6-29) battled back from a two-run deficit to force extras against the San Francisco Dons but fell 6-5 in the 10th inning Tuesday afternoon in San Francisco.
Raul Sandoval went 2-3 with two runs and a game-tying home run in the ninth inning,
James Williams III was 3-4 with an RBI, and
Omar Plascencia walked twice and scored once.
The Aggies erased an early deficit in the third inning, when a ball put in play by
Mark Wolbert was misplayed at first and allowed Plascencia to score. A single by
Nick Leehey brought in Wolbert and
J.D. Mico for a 3-1 lead through three innings.
Trailing to 5-3 in the seventh, Williams III singled to center to drive in Sandoval and bring UC Davis within one and Sandoval followed in the ninth, blasting a 1-0, leadoff homer to left to tie the game at five.
Kyler Arenado pitched around a no-out, two on jam in the bottom half of the ninth to send the game to extras but the Dons came back to walk off in the bottom of the 10th on a two-out base hit.
The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Aggies as UC Davis was coming off a series win over UC San Diego over the weekend. The Aggies head out on their final road trip of the season later this week, facing Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo for three games.
