Davis, Calif. -
Nick Leehey had three RBIs and
Mark Wolbert homered for the second straight day but UC Davis fell 7-9 to CSU Bakersfield on Saturday afternoon.
The loss snaps a two-game win streak for the Aggies and sets up a rubber match on Sunday where UC Davis will have a chance to win its first series of the season.
Wolbert continued to swing a red hot bat, going 4-5 with three runs scored to extend his hit streak to five games. Leehey went 2-5 with his second career homer in the first inning tying the game at two.
James Williams III went 2-4, keeping him in the top-10 in the Big West in batting average at .340.
The Roadrunners struck for six runs in the top of the fourth and though UC Davis battled back to within two runs after putting two on in the ninth, it was too steep a deficit to overcome.
Wolbert's seventh inning home run pulled UC Davis to within 6-9 and an RBI single to score
Nick Iverson by
Nathan Peng with none out in the ninth made it 7-9 with the makings of a rally. The Aggies went down in order after Peng's single to end the game.
Saturday's loss makes it six straight games scoring at least seven runs for UC Davis.
Sunday's rubber match is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
