LA JOLLA, Calif. – The UC Davis softball team split its doubleheader with UC San Diego Saturday at the Triton Softball Field. The Aggies won the opener, 6-5, and then dropped the series finale, 4-0.
Anna Dethlefson capped off the series with a .444 average, collecting four hits and a .500 on-base-percentage.
Delaney Diaz also banged out four hits to sport a .364 average.
The Aggies took advantage of five Triton errors to secure the victory in the first game on Saturday. Dethlefson set the table in the seventh when she opened the inning with a single and promptly stole second. After a groundout, she scored on a
Sarah Nakahara grounder to short.
Bella Pahulu collected two hits while
Sommer Kisling scored two runs from the leadoff spot. The Aggies recorded eight hits in the opener as the top of the order, 1-through-4 had a hit apiece.
In the finale, Diaz collected two of the three UC Davis hits.
Kenedi Brown earned a save and struck out nine in the series.
The Aggies return home to host UC Santa Barbara for a three-game conference set, beginning on Friday, April 29.
