DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis softball team fell in the series opener against UC Santa Barbara, 3-2, Friday afternoon at La Rue Field. After the day, the Aggies move to 19-25 overall and 7-12 in Big West competition.
After giving up a first inning run, UC Davis promptly responded with a solo shot off the bat of
Delaney Diaz, her fourth of the season.
The Gauchos plated two unearned runs in the third and the Aggies pushed to within one at 3-2, when
Anna Dethlefson took advantage of a timely error to advance all the way from first to score.
Kenedi Brown (11-16) was on the other side of the decision, allowing the three runs – one earned on three hits in three innings.
Sarah Reineman tossed four innings of scoreless relief.
The two teams will meet for a doubleheader tomorrow, beginning at 1 p.m. at La Rue Field.
