Nick Leehey hit a walk off single and the Aggies got strong pitching for the second straight day to defeat Hawai'i 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Nolan Meredith and
Kaden Riccomini combined to carry a no-hitter into the seventh inning with Meredith pitching three hitless innings with two walks and a strikeout as the opener and Riccomini going six innings and allowing just one earned run on five hits, three walks and two strikeouts for the win.
Trailing 0-2 entering the bottom of the eighth,
Jonah Henrickson hit a two-out single and
Nick Iverson walked to put two on.
Jake Brandel followed and smashed a two-strike double into the gap in left center that scored both and tied the game at 2-2.
With runners on second and third in the top of the ninth and one out, Riccomini didn't give in and got a ground ball double play to end the inning and send the game to the bottom of the ninth.
J.D. Mico hit a one-out single to left,
Mark Wolbert singled to allow the speedy Mico to advance to third and bring up Leehey. In a two-strike count, Leehey hit a sharp single back up the middle to send the Aggies streaming onto the field.
It was UC Davis' (4-21, 3-14) first Saturday win of the season and gives the Aggies a chance at a series win on Sunday.
Wolbert went 2-5, extending his hitting streak to 12 games.
Nathan Peng was 3-3 before being lifted for a pinch runner in the eighth inning and Brandel's 2-4 day gave him back-to-back two-hit games.
UC Davis has outhit the Rainbow Warriors 20-10 in the series.
