Fullerton, Calif. - The Aggies scored three runs in the ninth inning on Saturday but saw their rall fall short in a 7-11 loss to Cal State Fullerton.
Saturday's game was UC Davis' fourth in five days and closed out a three-game series with the Titans.
Jonah Henrickson and
Nick Leehey both went 2-5 with Leehey driving in a career-high four runs.
Mark Wolbert went 1-2, hitting safely for the 10th straight game and
Omar Plascencia continued to find his way with the bat, going 2-3 with a run scored.
The Aggies (3-20, 2-13) fell behind 0-7 by the end of the second inning before getting four back in the third. Wolbert hit a sacrifice fly that scored
Raul Sandoval, Leehey hit a two-run double to score
J.D. Mico and Plascencia, and
Nick Iverson drove in Leehey to bring UC Davis within 4-7.
Cal State Fullerton picked up four more runs, three in the fifth and one in the eighth, before UC Davis mounted a rally down 4-11 in the ninth inning.
Plascencia and Henrickson led off the inning with singles and after a fielder's choice by
Riley Acosta and a single by Wolbert, the Aggies had the bases loaded with one out. Leehey drove in two on a single and a wild pitch scored Wolbert but the Aggies went down in order afterwards.
UC Davis return home to face Hawai'i at Dobbin Stadium April 22-24 with a Picnic Day game on April 24.
