Fullerton, Calif. - UC Davis led into the eighth inning on Friday night in Fullerton but fell 3-4 on a walk off triple to the Titans of Cal State Fullerton.
Nolan Meredith started and allowed just one earned run over four innings before giving way to
Kaden Riccomini, who pitched four innings and allowed two earned runs with both runs coming in the eighth.
The Aggies (3-19, 2-12) jumped out front in the second with
Jake Brandel fouling off four straight pitches before singling through the left side of the infield.
Omar Plascencia followed with a drive that was misplayed at the left field wall that allowed Brandel to score and
J.D. Mico singled up the middle to score Plascencia for a 2-0 lead. UC Davis got an insurance run in the seventh with a double by
Mark Wolbert, giving him a nine-game hitting streak, that scored Mico.
A bases-loaded single in the eighth allowed Cal State Fullerton to tie the game at three and the Titans saw just three pitches in a ninth inning that saw lead off single and the go-ahead triple.
Friday's outing equaled the Meredith's longest of the season while Riccomini's appearance was his best since throwing a quality start against UC Irvine on Mar. 19.
Saturday's series finale will mark the Aggies' fourth game in a span of five days with this weekend's series starting a day early due to the Easter weekend.
