UC Davis drop series opener to Cal State Fullerton

Fullerton, Calif. - UC Davis led early but fell 3-9 to Cal State Fullerton to open a three-game series in Fullerton on Friday night.

After falling behind 0-2 after the first inning, Raul Sandoval hit a two-run triple in the top of the second that scored Kyler Arenado and Nick Iverson to tie the game at two. Mark Wolbert followed with an RBI single to drive in Sandoval for a 3-2 lead but the Titans went on to score six unanswered runs the rest of the way.

Wolbert had two hits, raising his average to .370 and his hitting streak to eight games. Sandoval now has back-to-back multi-hit games after going 2-4 on Friday. Kyler Arenado broke an 0-8 stretch with two hits.

The Aggies (3-18, 2-11) were playing for the second time in three days after playing extra innings at Pacific on Tuesday and spending Wednesday traveling to Orange County.

UC Davis will have a chance to keep a series win in their sights with a 6 p.m. first pitch tomorrow.
