Stockton, Calif. -
Omar Plascencia went 3-4 and scored the go-ahead run,
Kyler Arenado picked up the first win of his career and UC Davis came back to beat Pacific 14-11 in the 11th inning on Tuesday night.
UC Davis (3-17, 2-10) overcame comebacks by the Tigers in the third and eighth innings, eventually winning in a decisive 11th inning kickstarted by Plascencia.
His career-high third hit was a double to left center to lead off the inning and he moved to second on a single by
Riley Acosta.
J.D. Mico followed and was able to lay down a bunt that the Tigers misplayed and allowed Plascencia to score.
Raul Sandoval hit an two-RBI single right afterwards, breaking out of a 1-14 stretch and bringing in Acosta and Mico for a 14-11 lead.
Pitching out of the bullpen on a rare off day at third base,
Kyler Arenado allowed just two hits in two innings with two strikeouts for his first career win.
Nick Leehey went 1-7, hitting safely for the eighth straight game and homering for the third straight. Plascenica was 3-4 with a run and an RBI in his home coming,
Nick Iverson went 2-4 with a run and an RBI. Before being replaced by Sandoval in centerfield,
Mark Wolbert went 1-2 and scored twice, keeping his hitting streak alive at seven games.
The Aggies got off to a loud start with Leehey hitting a three-run homer and Plascencia hitting an RBI single for a 4-0 lead. Pacific got one back in the bottom half of the first, five more in the second and one in the fourth though to lead 4-7. UC Davis took advantage of two Tigers errors in the fourth though and dropped a five-spot to retake the lead 9-7.
They got an insurance run in the seventh when Mico reached on an error and scored on another error while Iverson homered in the eighth before Pacfic hit four singles in the bottom half of that inning to tie it at 11-11.
Tuesday's win was UC Davis' first midweek win of the season and first over a non-conference opponent.
The Aggies have a quick turnaround with a three-game series against Cal State Fullerton beginning on Thursday.
