STOCKTON, Calif. -- For the second straight game the Aggies went to extra innings. This time UC Davis won in nine as
Anna Dethlefson went deep for the second time in the game to lift the Aggies (14-16) over Pacific, 6-3, Tuesday evening.
After a
Reese Mattley walk, Dethlefson cleared the wall for the eventual game-winner.
Claudia Kim added an insurance run when she singled to short to plate
Sarah Starks for the eventual final margin of the game.
Kenedi Brown (8-9), who tossed all 13 innings in the win on Sunday, came in to earn the win in relief, allowing three hits in 3 1/3 innings, while striking out eight. Brown was able to navigate a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh to extend to the game for the Aggies, getting a key strikeout and inducing a groundball to end the threat.
UC Davis took the early lead when Dethlefson smacked a solo home run down the left field line in the third inning.
After Pacific took the lead in the fourth, the Aggies loaded the bases in the fifth and scored when Libby McMahan was hit by a pitch to plate
Alyssa Ito. UC Davis then retook the lead when
Reese Mattley scored on a wild pitch.
Dethlefson, Kim and McMahan tallied two hits apiece as the Aggies collected 10 hits on the evening.
UC Davis returns home for a conference series against Cal State Bakersfield. The two teams will square off in a doubleheader on Saturday and close out the three-game set on Sunday.
