DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis Athletic Director Rocko DeLuca has hired Courtney Randall to serve as Associate Athletics Director for Diversity Equity and Inclusion. As a member of the senior staff, Randall will lead departmental training, education, and supportive resources in the areas of DEI for student-athletes, coaches and staff in the Aggie Athletics program. Randall will also collaborate with UC Davis administrators and programs to help further UC Davis' strategic vision for DEI as the Chief Diversity Officer for athletics.
"We are delighted to welcome Courtney Randall to UC Davis and the Aggie family," DeLuca said. "There are many areas of our department that will be positively impacted by his leadership and most importantly, he's committed to making a lasting impact on the lives of our student-athletes and staff. Courtney brings a wealth of experience from his time at LSU, Washington State and Oklahoma, and I am excited to work alongside him as he returns to his home state."
"I am elated to join the UC Davis community, and help further our efforts in inclusive excellence," Randall noted. "Davis is a special place, with a one-of-a-kind program in Aggie Athletics. I cannot wait to serve our student-athletes, staff, and university community in building a more equitable, supportive, and engaging experience for all Aggies. I would like to give special thanks to Rocko DeLuca, Chanel Glasper, and Mike Lorenzen for helping to make this opportunity possible."
Courtney comes to UC Davis from Louisiana State University, where he was the Director of Tiger Life. Randall served student-athletes through designing and implementing programming in the areas of career preparation, community engagement, character development, diversity and inclusion.
Outside of leading the Tiger Life team, Randall was heavily involved in helping to create a more inclusive experience for student-athletes and staff at LSU, serving on the Athletics Leadership Council for Diversity Equity and Inclusion, helping to create and advise LSU's Black Student-Athlete Association, and introducing the HEARD series, a town-hall-style program platforming student-athletes and staff on critical topics related to social justice and cultural competency.Â
Before his time at LSU, Randall spent over four years at Washington State University, where he served as the Coordinator of Career and Leadership Development.
Randall was a four-year letter winner at the University of Nevada from 2006-10, playing on what is arguably the program's most notable football team, which finished ranked No. 11 in the AP Poll in 2010. Randall completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology. He holds a Masters of Education degree in Adult and Higher Education, with an emphasis in Intercollegiate Athletics from the University of Oklahoma.
