LONG BEACH, Calif. – The UC Davis softball team dropped two one-run games in its Big West road opener Saturday afternoon against Long Beach State. The Aggies fell in the first game, 5-4, and then dropped the nightcap, 6-5.
Sarah Starks blasted two home runs and batted 3-for-7 (.429) with three runs scored in the two-game set.
In game one the Aggies took the early lead, scoring three in the first three frames but Long Beach secured the win with a five-run fifth.
Starks went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI. The top of the order collected all five hits as
Anna Dethlefson scored two runs with a 1-for-2 effort at the plate.
UC Davis once again raced out to an early lead in game two with a four-spot in the first, but ultimately Long Beach came back to seize the series victory on a walk-off in the seventh.
The two teams will meet tomorrow in the series finale at 1 p.m.
