UC Davis fall to Gauchos in second game of series

Davis, Calif. - For the second straight game, UC Davis (0-11, 0-5) put up a three-spot in an inning to come back against UC Santa Barbara but it wasn't enough to overcome the Gauchos in a 9-3 loss at home on Saturday.

Trailing 4-0 through three innings, UC Davis struck back in the bottom of the fourth. Nick Leehey led off with a double, Mark Wolbert walked and Raul Sandoval was plunked to load the bases for Nick Iverson, who doubled home everyone on the first pitch he saw.

The Aggies put two on in the fifth, seventh and ninth innings, including loading the bases in the seventh, but couldn't cash in against UC Santa Barbara.

Kaden Ricommini got the start for the Aggies and went 5 1/3 innings, allowing five earned runs on 10 hits with most of that damage coming in a four-run second inning for UC Santa Barbara.

Iverson and Wolbert had two-hit days for UC Davis, going 2-3 with a double apiece. Kyler Arenado, J.D. Mico, and Leehey collected a hit each.

UC Davis will try to get a game back in the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Dobbins Stadium.
