Davis, Calif. - Keely Laughlin's standout final month of the regular season has been recognized by equestrian's national body with the senior being named the National Collegiate Equestrian Association's Rider of the Month for fences in March.

Laughlin becomes just the second Aggie ever to win an NCEA month award. Macey Newkirk was the last to do it in February 2021 for reining.

Competing in some of her final collegiate equestrian meets, Laughlin went 2-0 in fences in March and set her two highest career marks in the event in UC Davis two March competitions. She won 90-89 over Baylor on Mar. 5 to set a new career-best and won 88-79 and was named MOP on Mar. 12 against Fresno State.

Laughlin's three fences MOPs this season is a program record in the event and she finishes her career with an overall event record of 17-14. Her five fences wins this season matches the program-best mark and she'll leave UC Davis as the winningest fences rider in program history.

Laughlin will lead the Aggies at the ECAC Championships this week in Delaware with UC Davis facing South Dakota State in Thursday's opening action.
